How can my thyroid levels increase when I have taken a radioactive iodine pill to kill it?

your thyroid levels will be controlled by taking a synthetic thyroid medication, like synthroid. it should be taken every morning on an empty stomach with just water. don't eat for at least a half hour...don't take it with coffee.... your tsh levels will be determined by your endo...if you have not had cancer, your levels will be between 1 and 3 for your TSH, and if you have had cancer, it will be kept under .1. it takes 6 weeks for it to build up in your system. some endos give cytomel (a fast acting substitute) for the first couple of weeks along with it, so you feel better faster. without more info, I can't give more help...try the yahoo health groups under thyroid, or the www.thyca.org web site (it is for cancer, but has lots of thyroid info) good luck.
