Is Harry Potter doomed as a clic because of its popularity?
I wouldn't say that it's popularity immediately disqualifies Harry Potter from becoming a clic. Charles ens and Jack London are both examples of "clic" authors who enjoyed immense popularity during thier lifetimes. If you think HP fans are crazy, you should have seen the crowds on the NY docks, waiting for the last installment of en's "Old Curiousity Shop" to arrive from England. "Is Little Nell dead??" everybody was desperate to know. Jack London was the first author to make millions on writing alone. Some authors have a knack for captivating their audience better than others, and some of those books are replaced with new sensations, but others continue to capture our collective imaginations. I guess only time will tell what's to become of Harry and the gang.
